I wasn’t very fond of the silver embroidery/jeweling on the bodice of this dress as detailed in the photo on the website. When I received the dress, I was delighted to see that a more floral pattern had been substituted, which I liked much better than the original design. The placement of the pattern provides great visual detail to the bodice, which allows it to camouflage your stomach. The choker is a bit wide and busy for me, and since I’m heavy and short, I probably won’t wear it. The neckline of the dress has enough detail floral detail that repeating it in the choker seems like overkill. I might remove the floral embroidery and bejewel the choker in a more simple fashion for later. The jeweled wristlets have velcro closures and are very comfortable. I’m normally not a huge fan of fringe, but the layered cut of the skirt looks great and shows hip motion very nicely.
This dress is a fabulous true blue red color, and the deep v neck and back should be flattering to a variety of body shapes. I am short and heavy, and this dress makes me look slimmer than I really am. I wasn’t completely sold on the pattern of the stonework from the picture on the website, but it looks fantastic in person. The choker and wristlets are also bejeweled. The choker is narrow enough to look okay even on my short neck. The wrist cuffs have velcro closures and are very comfortable. As compared to the website photo I decided to shorten the fringe all around. In retrospect, I almost wish I hadn’t; the dress might have shown movement and turns to better advantage with longer fringe. I still love it though!
Of the three smooth dance dresses that I made in this purchase, this one is my favorite. It’s a rich coral color, and the embroidered, jeweled halter neck looks fabulous. The placement of the floral design and the ruching of the bodice are very flattering and forgiving if you need to hide a belly. I am a heavy, short woman, and love how this dress makes me look and feel. The bodice has a side zip on the right, and the sleeves are actually open (not sewn into a cylinder) so the chiffon material hangs like a cape over each arm. I haven’t danced in the dress yet, so I’m not sure if the sleeves will be in the way or not. I do know that the design of the dress allows you to drape the chiffon back over your shoulder, so you could have a different look without the need for alteration of the dress.
The quality of the embroidery and stonework on this dress is amazing, and the placement of the design is very flattering if you need to hide a bit of a tummy. I am a heavy, short woman, and love how I look and feel in this dress. I’m not as fond of the nude mesh used for the sleeves though and I’m contemplating removing them altogether since I don’t really like how the floats fall when I’m dancing either. Sometimes the white chiffon floats over your hands, making transitions and handhold changes with your partner very awkward. Maybe I’m just not used to avoiding floats when I dance, but I know I can’t leave them on for my upcoming competition.
I am not usually that fond of this shade of pink, and rarely wear it, but this dress is beautiful, and I look forward to dancing in it after making the sleeve modification.
The blue floats on this dress are beautiful extensions from the jeweled cuffs. The cuffs are elastic and are pretty tight, so if you order this dress, you might want to consider a more generous wrist measurement or request velcro closures for better comfort. The neck cuff covers most of your neck and is also pretty tight, so consider this when you measure. It likely will only look good on someone with a very thin, long neck. Otherwise, it looks almost like a neck brace. The draped neckline should be flattering to many body shapes. The body of the dress is all white with scattered jewels, so it will not hide your tummy as well a dress that has more detailed embroidery or stonework across the stomach. However, even though I am a heavy, short woman, it still looks great on me. The transition of color and material between the white bodice and gradual color change to blue looks fantastic, and the skirt flows beautifully with every movement and turn. I am really impressed with the quality of material and workmanship.
I ordered this dress for a competition, so I’m going to detach the blue floats from the cuffs and attach them to the back center of the dress with simple eyes/hooks so that they do not impede the arm movements of my partner. We don’t want to deal with potential tangles while being judged! I’ll make the modification reversible so I can go with either look depending on my mood. I’m not going to wear the neck cuff.
I am satisfied with my dress. It looks close to what is shown in picture. The fact that it’s not exact is what has me slightly disappointed. The top part is almost exact, but it’s the bottom part that’s not. The fabric doesn’t bunch up like it shows. It’s more just cut higher there instead. It doesn’t bunch in the back either.
